Expected outcomes and deliverables

Phase 1 – Project Plan: Students will be in contact (virtually) with organization representative(s) to devise the project scope and prepare a detailed plan for completion of the project.

Phase 2 – Project Execution: Students will work on deliverables outlined in the project plan. Teams will periodically communicate with organization representative(s) as needed to complete project tasks.

Phase 3 - Outcome--Needs Analysis & Training Proposal: Each student-consultant group will submit a detailed needs analysis, with recommendations for training or alternative directions. The training proposal will fulfil the determined needs gap and provide an estimated ROI metric with supporting facts and analysis.

Project Examples

Starting this July, student-consultants in groups of 5 will spend 150 hours per team assessing a challenge your organization faces to determine if and what type of training will resolve the issue.

Based on their needs analysis, if the challenge can be assisted through training, student-consultants will create a proposal that outlines the content, format, outcomes, and ROI for a recommended training program.

Sample student projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Examining turnover rates to determine if employees leaving an organization can be directly linked to a lack of, or need for specific training.

  • Examining high rates of safety incidents/occurrences/mishaps to see if a lack of training is the root cause and determining corrective actions to eliminate safety hazards and mishaps.

  • Examining quality issues with an organization’s product or service to see if they can be linked to a lack of training in a critical or key area.
