Overview
Learner goals and capabilities

Virtual Internship Opportunity

Bring on one or more students from the Centennial College Project Management program to be your virtual intern! Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.

Students must complete a minimum of 12 weeks and 392 hours.

Students are able to complete their internship virtually, but also in person if it is feasible and can be done safely.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the project. The student should complete 392 hours with your organization by April 16.

Project Examples

Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the internship, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.

Students are in the Post-Graduate diploma program. All students seeking a placement have work experience, as well as an undergraduate degree or diploma.

The students seeking virtual placements have skills and have completed studies in the following areas:

  • fundamentals of project management
  • project leadership
  • business analysis
  • project planning and scheduling
  • procurement
  • contract management
  • project estimation
  • cost management
  • project risk
  • project quality management.

If you are interested in offering a virtual placement to 1-3 students, please submit a project describing one of the major types of work the student would be doing for your organization.

Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Employers must complete an evaluation at the end of the internship. This will be used to determine 70% of the students final graed.

Placements can be paid or unpaid. When unpaid honorariums are welcomed if your organization is able to provide a stipend for the student. These internship are for-credit and occur in the final semester the students program.

Provide a dedicated contact who will act as the student's primary supervisor over the duration of the virtual placement. A secondary contact should be provided as a backup. Students will interact virtually with their primary contact on a daily basis, or as needed.

Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
