Had a great screening call with the professor prior to engagement. But the initial approach of the team was completely off mark. In the first meeting - and prior to understanding what our company did or what the 'call to action' was - we were asked what our 'marketing budget was'? They had no clue what they would do with any budget we were to give them. They had no idea what the target customers, channels, or vehicles were to progress...but they were asking about SEO spend. Once we got through the arrogance, we were able to focus the team on some practical outputs such as potential markets for our service, market size, and use cases. Reaching out to the professor to assist in steering and coaching of the team was met with silence. In the end, we got an outcome, but it was not smooth. Thankfully, we have a consulting background and experience with managing dysfunctional teams.
