Details

This project will begin following a kick-off meeting and orientation for all student-hires.

The Antarctic Institute of Canada (AIC) is a non-profit organization that conducts research activities, academic mentorship programs, and equity building through a variety of government-funded work initiatives for undergraduate and graduate students.

The AIC is seeking post-secondary students currently enrolled in a post-secondary program to participate in producing diverse creative deliverables for public dissemination and consumption. All participants are expected to possess the adaptability and willingness to navigate and compose within diverse stylistic and structural conventions, spanning multiple subject domains, reinforcing the holistic and encompassing nature of this initiative

Deliverables
  • Author Texts: Collaborate and author a variety of texts following the specific topics and guidelines provided, ensuring they are suitable for publication.
  • Adherence to Guidelines: Strictly adhere to diverse writing conventions, formats, and guidelines as disseminated during the kick-off meeting by the chair of the institute.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Actively engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with peers and mentors, sharing insights, providing feedback, and incorporating received feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Meet Deadlines: Submit all deliverables by the specified deadline.
  • Navigate Diverse Subjects: Comfortably navigate and contribute to writings within a wide range of subject areas, enriching the overall multidisciplinary essence of the initiative.
  • Participate in Meetings and Sessions: Regularly attend scheduled meetings, orientation sessions, and any additional gatherings to stay informed and aligned with the initiative's objectives and expectations.


Participants will produce a finalised deliverable of a minimum 4500 words. Your work will need to be uploaded to the Riipen platform in PDF format and uploaded in the google drive in the Central Working Document provided to you at the start of the project.

The Antarctic Institute of Canada is a non-profit Canadian charity organization founded by former Antarctic researcher Austin Mardon in 1985. Its original aim was to lobby for the federal government of Canada to increase the extent of Canadian research in the Antarctic. However, AIC slowly diversified and initiated programs for students to publish Antarctic research in newspapers and academic journals. These days, the AIC supports academic writing, research, and multimedia in many fields, expanding far beyond the organizationโ€™s original focus on Antarctica.
