Details

The Afro x Latin Festival YEG marketing intern will develop integrated marketing and media plans for western canada's first and only festival of its kind going into its 4th edition. The festival has grown from 150 attendees to 700 in only 3 years. The focus of the intern will be to create compelling sponsorship packages; develop and evaluate sponsorship activation opportunities from the value perspective of corporations willing to tap into our audience; and a strong online presence using website, project management tools and other relevant software provided by La Connexional.

La Connexional is a community focused social enterprise that is run by a team of dedicated individuals on a part-time basis. We have steadily grown over 4 years, from inaugurating Alberta's only Afro-Latin Festival to building a robust and resilient community through innovative events and workshops. We're currently formalizing our processes and developing new revenue streams in light of the COVID-19 pandemic with the goal of scaling La Connexional nationally and creating impactful employment opportunities.

The project may include, but is not limited to:

  • Develop initiatives to recruit new sponsors
  • Create professional and persuasive written, digital and other presentation formats using AI software such as writesonic
  • Identify granting agencies with potential to fund the Afro Latin Festival initiatives and venues
  • Develop relationships with appropriate granting agencies
  • Develop integrated marketing and media plans
  • Reach out to relevant influencers and local community groups
  • Develop an accessible policy to ensure our festival remains accessible to our audience
  • Develop a compelling website strategy to attract both consumers and sponsors

We would also provide access to a number of different online & proposal tools (such as canva, freshproposals, etc...) and we are very open to acquiring new ones to help the chose intern achieve their goals.
