What is the main goal for this project?

The main goal of this project is to implement a robust financial management system for Play Forever, including financial controls, budgeting, and reporting processes, to ensure the organization's financial health and sustainability.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
  1. Review and assess Play Forever's current financial management practices, identifying areas for improvement and potential risks.
  2. Develop and implement financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard the organization's assets, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and support effective decision-making.
  3. Establish a comprehensive budgeting process, including guidelines for budget development, monitoring, reporting, and periodic reviews to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  4. Create financial reporting templates and systems to track revenue, expenses, cash flow, and key financial indicators, providing regular updates to the board, staff, and other stakeholders.
  5. Train staff and board members on financial management best practices, including their roles and responsibilities in financial oversight and the use of financial reports for decision-making.
  6. Continuously monitor the organization's financial health, providing recommendations for improvements and adjustments as needed.

Play Forever is a non-profit organization providing structured and accessible recreation, education & mental health services to the youth of Toronto, Ontario. Play Forever currently serves youth ages 6- 29 with weekly programs, primarily focused on helping youth from marginalized communities and low-income families.
