user experience (ux) project management communication data mapping color theory drag and drop technical documentation management user interface (ui) inventory stagingTraxidy web-based project management work tracking software has been available for about two years and is continually improving. Our goal is to be an easy-to-use, intuitive application for project managers to use to control project tasks, report status, and collaborate with teammates. A generalized view or Kanban Board of the upcoming, in-process, completed and at-issue work within a project can provide improved communication, a better user experience, and project visibility to better control and deliver projects.
Work directly with the Traxidy CEO and Founder to create a working Kanban Board that represents the existing task/action project data, and enables a colorful, simple drag-and-drop overview of the project’s tasks/actions. This will add a new area to the Traxidy application, linked to existing data collected in the Traxidy Actions Issues Decisions (AID) area with the benefits of warning of potential resource over-allocation of work-in-progress and tracking the timing of the movement of the work from one stage to the next.

The main areas of work for the students in this project include:
- Design a prototype, a project timeline, specific deliverables, milestones, and a test plan
- For each project that is ‘Open’, design and build an entirely new web-based Kanban Board area to be made part of the Traxidy application, where the information is presented and adjusted and:
o Is colorful and clear UX/UI, color theory, typography
o The Kanban Board task/action cards are drag-and-drop
o Data mapping is aligned with the existing Traxidy AID area and tables
o The data is bi-directional updates between this new Kanban Board and the existing Traxidy Action Issues Decisions (AID) area
o Allow for flexibility in the settings like optional columns or stage titles and total columns
- Develop a data-mapping scheme to map the existing project data to the new Kanban Board
- Evaluate the potential for limiting or warning regarding the ‘in-process’ work based on resource/team member availability or limitations
- Evaluate the potential for measuring the time for each task/action card to move from one column or stage to the next. (By individual work owner and within the overall project)
- Propose and evaluate alternative designs to achieve the intended visualization and management of the task/action work
- Ensure the new area within Traxidy is responsive on all devices
- Deploy the Kanban Board area and test the new area in the Traxidy Staging environment
- Ensure there are on-screen informational tips in the new area for users
- Develop technical documentation and user ‘how-to’ documentation
Above and Beyond Challenges
Other work that is not expected to be done but would be great to see completed or worked on within the timeframe of this project includes:
• An ‘Explainer’ video showing how to use the new Traxidy Kanban Board area
The CEO will make himself available as required to enable the students to be successful and to encourage them toward project success. Students are encouraged to reach out at any time for queries and support.
