Global's automatic reverse braking system was ahead of its time. Now that technology has caught up, it's we are ready to innovate it. We have a conceptual design, surface level cost of supply chain parts, a wish list of objectives, and an estimate of project costs.
Based on our current users and their activities, we know we need to leverage the latest technology to gain an advantage in our market. We would like to collaborate with students to apply the latest technology and techniques to our dataset to gather new and exciting insights that our organization can leverage.
This may involve:
- Conduct background research on our existing product and the dataset.
- Conduct research into the latest AI and ML techniques and how they could be applied to our data.
- Developing a model which provides some sort of unique outcomes or insights into our data such as recommendation algorithms, predictive analytics, 4G or 5G OR 6G? Rasperry Pi.
By the end of the project, students should submit a final report (along with any source materials such as code, workbooks, etc) that demonstrates:
- Understanding of the available dataset
- The problem being solved (We have 45 years of experience with our current hardware and system -TTL-, but are not versed in software development or electrical engineering)
- Methodologies and approaches
- Outcomes and results
- Recommended next steps for our organization
Bonus steps in the process would also include:
- Providing multiple versions of any potential solutions
- Providing source code in a proper software development environment as applicable
Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:
- Current product understanding
- Current data set and guidance in navigating it
- Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter
- Any conceptual designs and work already completed for the next gen control head
About the company
We manufacture the only automatic braking system preventing backing accidents for commercial vehicles. New cars today have them built in, but not large vehicles like haulers and garbage trucks. Backing accidents are the number one type of accident in the waste management industry because the larger the vehicle, the bigger the blind spots. Sure cameras and sensors are great, but they don't compensate for driver reaction time or distracted driving. Our company has been run by a small team of 2 for 45 years.
