Digital Content about Small Towns of Canada - Phase 3

Number of individual students required: 10 students, any Province or Territory, Canada 1000 Towns of Canada 1000towns.ca is a digital platform connecting travellers and small town communities. In Phase 3, we want students to create content about small Canadian towns not included in 1000 Towns of Canada towns list. It will be focused mostly on places students visited before, or lived, or want to visit. With students' help, we launched more than 400 town pages on 1000towns.ca. To clarify the format, you can check existing pages 1000towns.ca (blue leaves on the map). After approval of the 1000 Towns of Canada team, the final content will be published as unique town pages on 1000towns.ca with the student's name as a creator. If you like the enjoyment of travelling off the beaten path, then we'd love to hear from you.

Personal projects

UAV/Drone Quadcopter
September 2021 - August 2022

Following my love for engineering and building things, I created and designed my own quadcopter from scratch. I used a custom frame, programmed a flight controller, linked a controller and receiver, and made sure all components meshed with each other. I needed to configure the motor, flight controller, electronics speed controller, and frame geometry to all work flawlessly in order to have a successful flight. I picked up a lot of skills on the way, such as learning to troubleshoot the countless problems and resulting crashes that came up. It was demoralizing to fail and have to start at square one after each crash, but the eventual and inevitable success is worth it for me. I also learned how to use a variety of tools such as a soldering iron, voltmeter, and whatever else was needed to make a component work. My dad who works as a technician helped me pick up these skills quickly. Overall, this project taught me the value of learning from mistakes and problem solving.
