DQ Construction Inc. is owned and operated by Tristan Kerr. Tristan is a carpenter by trade with an educational background in civil engineering and construction estimating. Over the past decade, in addition to rough and finish carpentry, Tristan has worked as a project manager for over five years in the construction industry. Tristan has played a key role in delivering many successful major renovation and maintenance projects across Canada. Designing, pricing, planning, and overseeing over $5 million worth of construction projects for big brand retailers like the Home Depot, Old Navy, Apple and more.

Marketing Strategy Plan
Hi, We want students to help us build a marketing strategy plan to grow and engage our target market: Business owners (brick and mortar), commercial property owners, and large corporations (think Nike, Walmart, Tim Hortons, etc.). We’d like to know how we can maximize use of different channels and get recommendations to improve our messaging and effectively reach our target audience. DQ Construction Inc. is a general contractor that specializes in providing infrastructure design solutions to address the maintenance, repair, and renovation needs of residential, commercial, and institutional facilities. Our focus is on sustainability and delivering a quality client experience while taking a design-build, client-centric approach. We apply lean building methods, honing in on what our client values, and in the process creating an innovative plan to maximize that value. Our team remains heavily involved throughout the conceptual stages of a project, exploring various green building solutions that can be incorporated into a clients’ project design. The main questions we’d like students to help us answer are the following: How do students currently perceive our brand and marketing, based on publicly available information about our company? What will be the most effective strategy for our company to raise brand awareness? What channels should we utilize for promotion, including those we are not currently using? What budget is appropriate for advertising given our goals? How could our messaging be updated to better explain our value proposition? What are some key marketing components that can lead to building a sense of trust with our target audience? What successful marketing strategies and tactics have been used by commercial contractors in the past? What types of online content would lead to greater conversions? How would that content tie back to our brand, products, and value proposition for customers? What content will customers care about the most? What processes and technology are needed to operationalize my strategy? What questions or uncertainties might be preventing our customers' from moving to the next stage of their journey? Sales Process Optimization + Implementation Strategy
The objective is to increase customer engagement, expand outreach, and boost sales. We would like you to research, develop, and execute an effective prospecting and sales strategy. This will include reviewing our current sales process, researching industry best practices, as well as identifying sales/prospecting opportunities that are uncommon and least competitive while leading to high conversions. Your sales/prospecting strategy should be creative and innovative. We would like you to define a strategy, generate a step-by-step guide, develop new messaging, sales call scripts, or other necessary means to help us increase the number and quality of leads generated. The insights that you provide will help our team improve lead generation, enhance our prospecting strategy, and increase conversion rates to drive more sales.
SEO and Social Media Strategy
Our team is looking for a group of students or individuals who are skilled in digital marketing and can help drive more traffic to our social media platforms and website as well as improve our SEO positioning. The primary project requirements include: Keyword analysis to determine the most relevant search terms to our organization A strategy document to outline: Search Engine Optimization (SEO) requirements to ensure our organization appears on the first page of Google for relevant keywords Content analysis Social media analysis and requirements to increase the number of followers/likes and shares Outlining the most engaging content creation strategy for prominent media websites that will lead to conversions in our sector We’re excited to work with students who can help us not only brainstorm, but also execute a strategy to achieve: Top ranking on Google search engine for general contractors, renovations, remodels, facility maintenance, etc. As well as a compelling strategy for content development to increase online presence. This is a great project for students to prove their digital marketing expertise to future employers, as the impact of their work on this project can be easily measured and communicated.
Strategic Prospecting Plan - Sales Strategy

Our team remains heavily involved throughout the conceptual stages of a project, exploring various green building solutions that can be incorporated into a clients’ project design. PROJECT SCOPE We need assistance developing an outreach process. We would like to equip our team with a plan that guides them in researching new prospects, identifying key contacts, and reaching out with compelling messages and/or phone calls. Our target audience is larger corporations (think retail stores, big box retailers, etc.) like Shoppers Drug Mart, Home Depot, and Footlocker. Also, we’re looking to target property management companies, this includes commercial properties as well as multi unit residential properties, etc. We would like you to create a simple step-by-step strategy for prospecting in our target market. The project may include, but is not limited to: Identifying new potential accounts that align with our current customer base. Compiling relevant market information. Building a customizable outreach script. Creating a simple tracking framework, including metrics, for measuring outreach success. Researching competitor’s sales processes and inbound lead strategies. Developing recommended changes for our sales process and strategy. Providing sales scripts for emails and sales calls. Creating a process handbook for our Sales team. The final project deliverable is a report including research, analysis, and recommendations. It should assist our team in successfully prospecting within our target market with actionable recommendations that will increase sales conversions. We would like to know the best sales approach to reach the procurement managers and owners of these larger organizations and introduce them to our services.
